Home at last! After clicking my heels together 300 times, I made it in the door about 8:45 last night.
Thanks for all the prayers while I was gone. Thanks also to Travis and the crew for going to Josh’s t-ball game and recording the highlights for me.
I’m in the middle of 668 blogs and 246 e-mails right now, so I’ll post some Hurricane Ike and Conroe Texas stuff later.
Friday again! They fly by, don’t they? Here’s five for Friday.
- I’m leaving for Texas this weekend. Remember last week when I wrote about Ike? He’s still around, and he’s not happy. See everyone in a few weeks! I’ll miss Josh’s first t-ball game and Ginny’s first doctor’s appointment.
- Bloodhound Bash this afternoon. Should be a blast! It’s a chance to give back to the teachers.
- I met with Josh’s teacher today. Proactively. He’s doing well. Turns out he likes to talk a lot. He must get that from his mom.
- Boo Boo Cat will be getting declawed. Soon. I’m tired of waking up to the sound of shredding furniture.
- Everyone in the house is well. For now. I pray it stays that way for a while. Especially since I’ll be hundreds of miles away.
That’s it for me. It may be quiet around here for a while depending on my hours and internet connection. I’ll post hurricane pics if I’m able. Happy Friday!
After being forced from his family’s home Danny L. Smith, 32, is lead to a police car by Lakeland Police LT. John Thomason near Crawford Street after a two hour stand off Tuesday September 9, 2008 in Lakeland, Florida.

Any similarities to any person, living or dead is purely coincidental. Unless it is on purpose.
Do you remember where you were 7 years ago today when the Twin Towers were attacked? I bet you do.
I was on my way to USF Tampa for classes. The report came over the radio as I pulled into the parking lot. Classes were cancelled, so I went to lunch with my friend Warren. We watched on the news as we waited for our meals. I remember thinking, “How could this happen to us?” When food arrived, I prayed. It was an extra-long prayer. When I looked up, Warren was still praying. To my knowledge, Warren wasn’t a Christian, but that day he needed to talk to God. I remember it vividly. Like it was yesterday.
On my way in to work today, I tried to recall other pieces of history. I remembered being in Mrs. Smith’s fourth grade class at Dundee Elementary when the Challenger exploded. And in Mr. Kennon’s ninth grade history class when we invaded Iraq.
Isn’t it funny how we have such vivid momories of the worst days in history? And the best days of our lives fly by.
I don’t remember much from my wedding. Once Ginny walked through those doors, the rest was a blur. I couldn’t tell you who attended. I know we did the Hokey Pokey. I have to defer to pictures for the rest. But that was one of the best days in my life.
Why is that? Bad days stick with us and good days fly past?
Happy Tuesday, everyone. I know the day is almost over, but it’s still Tuesday nonetheless.
Today’s Positive Post Tuesday is dedicated to RidgePoint Church. Not the outdated old building at 100 Hatfield Road, but the body of believers (and skeptics) that actually make up the DNA of RPC.
I have to tell you that I seriously could not fathom attending church anywhere besides RPC. I have had job offers and refused to move partly due to not wanting to leave RPC. I know what you are thinking, and even if I wasn’t a staff member, I would still be a RPC‘er.
We have done everything in our power to create a church for people who don’t like church. And we have caught a TON of flak for it. Mostly friendly fire from members or from other churches. Unfortunately for them, we exist to serve God and not them.
Last week Timm stood on stage and dreamed out loud what he felt church should be. He said church should be a movement, not a moment. That we’ve neutered the gospel. That outsiders matter to God, so they should matter to us. That the community should be glad were there, even if they don’t agree with us. That we’ve put God in a box. A brick-walled box. That WE ARE THE CHURCH. I wanted to stand up and cheer. I’m more than a little excited about our future.
Friday we get a chance to put feet to the message and be the church. We will be throwing the first annual Bloodhound BBQ, a dinner for the teachers of Auburndale High School and their families. No strings attached. Just to show our appreciation for their commitment to our future.
Long story longer, I love RPC and I love being the church! Even if I don’t always act like it.
Happy Tuesday!

So true.
Here’s five for Friday. Enjoy.
- Hurricane Ikelooks like a bad mamma-jamma. I like hurricanes, but this one has me slightly concerned. Anyone remember what he did to Tina Turner?
- Going to Rock the Universe tonight with some teens from church. I promise it will be a blast. Possibly soggy, but a blast nonetheless.
- My wife is feeling better. Finally. Thank you Sweet Baby Jesus. I could never be a single parent. My props to those who are.
- My feet are feeling a little gay. That’s all I have to say about that for now. Perhaps a picture will follow.
- Riley, my 2-year old, just called to see if I would take her to the park. My wife has no knowledge of the call. I may hire Riley to be my assistant.
Happy Friday.
I’ve noticed lately that I spend lots of time online with no real purpose.
When I’m online, I spend most of my time on Kongregate playing games.
It’s a cool site that highlights a new game each week. Also, it has intermediate awards so you can earn points for playing games. I don’t know what the points are for, but there fun to earn.
Right now, my favorite game is Amophous+.
Go there and check it out, then tell me what you favorite game is. And tell them Squincheye sent you.
Beware. It’s addicting.
Fantasy Football, that is.
I have created a Fantasy Football league exclusively for my blog friends. It will be the first annual Fantasy Blog Ball.
You have to have a Yahoo account and sign up for a private league here.
There will be a live online draft this Wednesday at 9:30 Eastern time.
The League ID# is 624994 and the Password is futbol.
First 13 to sign up get to play.
Please only sign up if you intend to play the ENTIRE season.
Good luck!
